CBD & Medical Cannabis training for pharmacists
The first online CPD accredited cannabinoid learning module for pharmacists in Ireland & the UK has today, Monday 7th October, been launched by Irish plant-based supplements company, GreenLight Supplements. The learning module, which is the first of its kind in the Irish & UK markets, was launched at The Pharmacy Show, a prestigious event in the pharmacy industry which is taking place in Birmingham’s NEC with an expected attendance of almost 10,000 pharmacy professionals.
Headquartered in Rathfarnham, GreenLight Supplements is the first cannabidiol (CBD) supplier to develop this accredited online cannabinoid course that has been designed to inform and educate pharmacists in the UK & Ireland in response to the huge public appetite for qualified information surrounding CBD products.
Aimed at Irish pharmacists who want to acquire the knowledge to further understand cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system. The GreenLight CBD CPD training offers pharmacists access to accredited training on CBD and medical cannabis, providing succinct educational information and advice to pharmacists on how to inform to their customers about CBD products.
The training program was developed with the support of The Academy of Medical Cannabis and leading medical cannabis expert and lecturer at the Academy, Professor Mike Barnes.
Commenting on why GreenLight invested in bringing this course to fruition, GreenLight Supplements’ CEO Patrick Deasy stated: “With the emergence and rapid growth of CBD product offerings in the Irish market over the past few years, there has also been a rise in misleading information about these products, the potential benefits they can offer and how the various products differ.”
GreenLight Supplements’ accredited CPD course seeks to define the difference between cannabis as a medicine and the CBD food supplement products that have been made available in retail pharmacy over the last number of years. The course will deliver information on cannabinoids, their functions in the body, the endocannabinoid system and the development of regulations surrounding CBD and medical cannabis.
Mr Deasy continues: “When it comes to CBD oils and products, the range of options and variation of products can be overwhelming.
“Our course has been developed by some of the world’s leading experts in the field of cannabis-based medical products with the goal of educating pharmacists on the key information they should be seeking regarding the CBD products they are selling.
“Pharmacists are at the front line in terms of customer enquiries, and at GreenLight, we’re confident that this course will be of real value in helping our customers - Pharmacists - to deliver informed advice to the public.”
This is the first course designed specifically for pharmacists which covers every aspect of cannabis as a supplement or a medicine.
